This project focused on transforming a dated and worn staircase into a clean, refreshed interior feature. The work included refinishing the stair surfaces, updating the stair runner, and refreshing the surrounding trim and wall finishes.
The Challenge
The existing staircase felt dated and lacked the clean, cohesive appearance of the surrounding home. Worn finishes and an outdated stair runner diminished the overall look of the space, while the narrow stairwell made thoughtful finishing work especially important.
The Solution
We refreshed the staircase with a clean, modern finish while preserving the existing character of the space. The stair surfaces were refinished and paired with a new dark stair runner, creating a strong contrast against the lighter stair trim and walls. The surrounding trim and handrail were also finished to create a consistent, polished appearance.
The Result
The completed staircase has a dramatically cleaner and more contemporary appearance. The dark runner adds visual definition and durability, while the bright trim and neutral walls keep the narrow stairwell feeling clean and inviting. The result is a simple but impactful update that significantly improves the home's interior presentation.
